The Mary Hawkins Locke Club

The Mary Hawkins Locke Club is a special branch of the Alain Locke Initiative, made up of the mothers and women supporters who believe in and uphold the mission of the Initiative. Named in honor of Mary Hawkins Locke, the mother of Alain Locke, this club recognizes the vital role that strong, supportive women play in shaping the success of young queer Black men.

Members of the Mary Hawkins Locke Club serve as advocates and pillars of support for the Initiative’s participants, offering guidance, encouragement, and a nurturing presence. Through community engagement, fundraising, and advocacy, the club helps ensure that every young man in the program has the resources, mentorship, and affirmation needed to thrive.
